1. ヨーロッパ東部から中東にかけての広範な地域を指す地理的な呼称。

バルカン半島、アナトリア、レバント、メソポタミアを含む、ヨーロッパ南東部から西アジアの一部を指します。古代文明の発祥地であり、東西文明の交流点として歴史的に重要な役割を果たしてきました。
