1. a path or track made by people or animals moving over a surface

A path or track left behind by someone or something moving across a surface. It can also refer to a course of action or thought.

2. to follow or pursue someone or something

To follow someone or something by looking for clues or evidence they have left behind.

5. to drag or be drawn along behind
