1. 後ろについている、遅れをとっている

何かの後ろについて移動している、あるいは競争などで先行する相手に比べて遅れている状況を表します。

The dog was trailing its owner down the street. (その犬は飼い主の後ろを追いながら通りを進んでいた。)
