1. 遠方にあるものや、視界が悪い場所にあるものを苦労して見つけ出すこと。

遠くにあるものや、霧、暗闇など視界が悪い状況で、努力して対象物を見つけ出す際に使われます。集中して見定めるニュアンスを含みます。
