何かを物理的に長くする、広げるイメージ。距離や範囲、時間などを増やす場合に使われます。

The company plans to extend its business hours. (会社は営業時間を延長する予定です。)

We need to extend the fence to keep the animals out. (動物を入れないようにフェンスを延長する必要があります。)

2. 抽象的な拡大・拡張

物理的なものだけでなく、範囲や影響力、概念などを広げるイメージ。能力や知識、関係性などを拡大する場合に使われます。
