1. グループや組織に属している人々

何らかのグループ、クラブ、チーム、組織、家族などに所属している複数の個人を指す言葉です。「member」の複数形。

The club has fifty members. (そのクラブには50人の会員がいます。)

• The club: 特定のクラブを指します。
• has: 「持っている」「～がいる」という所有や所属、存在を表します。
• fifty members: 50人の会員を指します。

All members must attend the meeting. (全ての会員は会議に出席しなければなりません。)

• All members: 全ての会員を指します。
• must attend: 出席しなければならない、という義務や必要性を表します。
• the meeting: 特定の会議を指します。

She is a founding member of the group. (彼女はそのグループの創設メンバーです。)

2. （身体の）器官、部位

身体の一部分、特に手足や性器などの器官や部位を指す場合に用いられることがあります。古風な響きを持つこともあります。「member」の複数形。

The limbs are important members of the body. (手足は身体の重要な器官です。)

• The limbs: 手足、四肢を指します。
• are: 「～である」という状態や属性を表すbe動詞です。
• important members: 重要な器官、部位を指します。
• of the body: 身体の、という全体に対する部分の関係を表します。
