1. 約束や信頼を裏切る、期待に背く

人との約束や信頼関係を裏切る、または期待を裏切る行為を表す際に使われます。特に、信じていた相手がその信頼を損ねた状況に用いられます。

He broke faith with his colleagues by leaking confidential information. (彼は機密情報を漏らすことで同僚との信頼を裏切った。)

• He: 「彼」という人を指します。
• broke faith: 約束や信頼を破ったことを意味します。
• with his colleagues: 「彼の同僚と」という意味です。
