1. 修理費用が物の現在の価値を上回るほどの損害、または物が完全に破壊されたり失われたりした状態。特に保険の文脈で用いられる。

保険の文脈で、修理費用が物の価値を超えるほどの損害を受けた状態や、完全に物が失われた状態を指します。

The car was declared a total loss after the accident. (事故の後、その車は全損と判定されました。)
