1. 種族や文化などが絶滅する、消滅する。

動植物の種や、文化、習慣、言語などが存在しなくなり、完全に消滅する状態を表します。特に自然現象や環境の変化、時代の流れなど、人為的ではない要因によって徐々に消えていくニュアンスが強いです。

Dinosaurs died out millions of years ago. (恐竜は何百万年も前に絶滅しました。)
