1. 物事が二つの枝や部分に分かれること。特に道、川、血管などが二手に分かれる物理的な状態や行為を指します。

物理的な対象が、ある地点から二つの異なる方向に分かれる状況や、構造が二つの部分に分岐している状態を表現する際に用いられます。
