1. 何かが柔らかい表面に衝突したり、液体が飛び散ったりする際の音を表す擬音語。

柔らかいもの、特に液体などが平らな面にぶつかったときに発する、湿ったような、たたくような音を表します。

The mud hit the wall with a splat. (泥が壁にべちゃっと当たった。)
