1. 建造物を支える、または装飾として立てられる円柱状の構造物。

建物や橋などの構造の一部として、上部の重さを支えるために垂直に立てられた、通常は円筒形のしっかりとした柱を指します。また、単なる装飾として立てられることもあります。
