1. 余白、縁。

本や書類などの紙の端にある、文字や絵が書かれていない空白部分を指します。

Please write in the margin. (余白に書いてください。)

• Please: どうぞ、～してください（丁寧な依頼）。
• write: 書く。
• in the margin: その余白の中に。

She drew a picture in the margin of her notebook. (彼女はノートの余白に絵を描いた。)

• She: 彼女（女性一人）を指します。
• drew a picture: 絵を描いた（draw a pictureの過去形）。
