1. 周囲より低い位置にある、または下がった状態

場所や物が周囲の一般的な高さやレベルよりも低い位置にある、または下がっている状態を表します。地面に埋め込まれたような構造物や、地盤が沈下した場所などに使われます。

The garden has a beautiful sunken pond. (その庭園には美しい沈んだ池があります。)
