1. 噂が広まる場所や過程。特に、非公式な情報源や人々の間でゴシップや憶測が生まれて広がる仕組みを指す。

人々が集まる場所や組織内で、ゴシップや未確認の情報（噂）が次々と作り出され、拡散していく様子を「工場（mill）」に例えた表現です。真偽不明な情報が流れる源泉やその過程全体を指します。
