1. 判決や決定を無効にする。

既に下された判決や決定を、より高い権限を持つ者や機関が「無効」にしたり「取り消し」たりすることを指します。主に法律や議会の場で使われます。

The Supreme Court can overrule decisions made by lower courts. (最高裁判所は下級裁判所が下した決定を覆すことができる。)
