1. （試験などのために）短期間で集中的に勉強すること。

主に試験やテストなどの目的で、短期間で集中的に知識を頭に詰め込む勉強法を指す口語的な表現です。理解よりも暗記を重視するニュアンスを含みます。

I need to mug up for the exam tomorrow. (明日の試験のために詰め込み勉強をする必要がある。)
