1. 政府など権威的な組織の公式方針に異議を唱える人。特に非民主的な国での反体制派。

特に権威主義的な国家において、政府や支配的な体制の方針やイデオロギーに反対し、異議を唱える人物を指します。政治的な文脈でよく使われます。

Many political dissidents were imprisoned for their views. (多くの政治的な反体制派が、その見解のために投獄された。)
