1. 未決定の、保留中の

まだ最終的な決定や処理が行われていない状態、保留されている状態を表します。

The application is pending. (その申請は保留中です。)

• The application: その申請書、その申し込み
• is: 〜である
• pending: 未決定の、保留中の状態である

Your payment is pending. (あなたの支払いは処理中です（保留中です）。)

• Your payment: あなたの支払い
• is: 〜である
• pending: 未処理の、保留中の状態である

My request is still pending. (私の要求はまだ保留中です。)

• My request: 私の要求、私の願い
• is still: まだ〜である
• pending: 未決定の、保留中の状態である

2. 〜を待っている間、〜まで

ある出来事が起こるまでの間、またはその出来事を待っている状態を表す前置詞として使われます。

Pending further notice, the office will be closed. (追って通知があるまで、事務所は閉鎖されます。)

• Pending: 〜があるまで、〜を待つ間
• further notice: さらなる通知
• the office will be closed.: 事務所は閉鎖されます。

Pending arrival of the parts, we cannot complete the repair. (部品の到着があるまで、修理を完了できません。)

• arrival of the parts: 部品の到着
• we cannot complete the repair.: 修理を完了できません。

Pending approval from the committee, the project is on hold. (委員会からの承認があるまで、その計画は保留中です。)
