1. 夜間に物体の表面に凝結する水分。

葉や草などに夜間、空気中の水蒸気が冷やされて付着する小さな水の粒を指します。地面や植物の表面に現れる自然現象です。

The grass was wet with dew this morning. (今朝、草は露で濡れていました。)

• The grass: 特定の「草」を指します。
• was wet: 濡れていた状態を表します。
• with dew: 「露によって」という意味です。
• this morning: 「今朝」という特定の時間帯を指します。

比喩的に、若々しさ、新鮮さ、純粋さ、無邪気さなどを露のきらめきや儚さに例えて表現する際に用いられます。
