1. 物事がその通りであること、現実。

変えられない現実や状況、物事が事実としてその通りである、ということを述べる際に使います。

Prices went up again. Well, that's the way it is. (また物価が上がった。まあ、そういうものさ。)

• Prices went up again.: 「物価が再び上がった」という意味です。
• Well,: ためらいや軽い諦め、または話題転換を示す間投詞です。
• that's the way it is.: 「それが現実です」「そういうものです」「仕方がない」という状況の受け入れを表します。
