1. 森林火災の監視や、広範囲の警戒を行うために高い場所に建てられた塔。

危険を早期に察知したり、広い範囲を監視したりする目的で建てられる高い塔です。森林火災の監視、海岸線の見張り、戦時中の敵の動向監視などに利用されます。
