1. 人や物を特定の場所や環境に置くこと。

建物、物、あるいは場所そのものが、物理的にどこに位置しているか、またはどこに置かれるか、設置されるかを表す際に使われます。特に「be situated」の形でよく使われます。

2. 人や物を特定の状況、文脈、歴史的背景などに位置づけること。

物事や人を、特定の文脈、状況、歴史的背景、思想的立場などの中に置き、その位置や関係性を明確にする際に使われます。議論や分析の中で、対象をどこに「位置づける」か、という文脈で用いられます。
