1. 停滞、不活発、不振、沈滞、陰鬱な気分

活動が少なく、進展がない状況や、気分が憂鬱で元気がない状態を指します。特に経済や仕事の分野で使われることが多いですが、個人の感情にも使われます。

The economy has been stuck in the doldrums for months. (経済は何ヶ月もの間、停滞しています。)
