1. 中央銀行が設定する政策金利、または金融機関が設定する貸出金利の基準となる利率。

経済における金融政策や個々のローン商品の金利を決定する際の基礎となる金利を指します。通常、中央銀行によって設定され、市中の金利に影響を与えます。変動金利型ローンの場合、このベースレートに一定のマージンが加算されて実際の金利が決定されることが多いです。
