1. 新しい道や方法を発見する人、または未知の地域を探検する人。先駆者、開拓者。

まだ誰も足を踏み入れたことのない場所や、誰も試したことのない新しい方法を最初に見つけ出し、その道を切り開く人を指します。探検家や開拓者のようなイメージで使われます。
