1. お金がない、一文無し、経済的に困窮している

お金がまったくなく、経済的に厳しい状況にあることを表します。主にイギリス英語で使われるスラングや口語表現です。

I can't go out tonight, I'm completely skint. (今夜は外出できない、全くお金がないんだ。)

• I: 「私」を指します。
• can't go out: 「外出できない」という否定の行動を表します。
• tonight: 「今夜」という特定の時間を指します。
• I'm completely skint: 「私は完全に一文無しだ」という経済状況を表します。

He's been skint ever since he lost his job. (彼は仕事を失って以来、ずっとお金がない。)

• He's: "He is"の短縮形で、「彼が～である」を意味します。
• been skint: 「お金がない状態が続いている」ことを表します。
• ever since: 「～以来ずっと」という継続を表します。
