1. 正確な位置、原因、問題点などを特定する。

位置、原因、問題点などを、漠然とではなく具体的に、まさに点のように正確に特定したり突き止めたりする様子を表します。

The police are trying to pinpoint the location of the suspect. (警察は容疑者の位置を特定しようとしている。)
