1. 動いているものや音、感情などを静止させたり、落ち着かせたりする行為。

何かが動いている状態、または騒がしい状態、あるいは興奮している感情などを落ち着かせ、静かで安定した状態にすることを指します。動詞「still」の現在分詞形または動名詞として使われます。
