1. 他者を感心させたり、誤解させたりする目的で、特定の態度や行動、意見を示すこと。虚勢や見せかけの行為。

自身を実際よりも良く見せたり、特定の意図を隠したりするために、大げさな態度を取ったり、虚偽の意見を述べたりする行為を指します。特に、政治や社会の場で、内面と異なる外面を演じる場合によく使われます。

His constant posturing for the cameras was annoying to everyone. (彼が常にカメラの前で見せびらかすような態度をとるのは、皆にとって迷惑だった。)
