1. 特定の分野や書籍などで使われる、特殊な用語とその定義を集めたリスト。用語集、語彙集。

特定の分野や書籍などで使われる専門用語や珍しい言葉を集め、それぞれの意味を簡潔に説明したリストを指します。読者が本文中で分からない言葉に出会ったときに参照できるように、本の巻末などに掲載されることが多いです。辞書よりも特定の範囲に特化している点が特徴です。

2. （廃れた用法）聖書や古典などの本文の傍らや行間に書き込まれた注釈や説明。

古い時代の写本などで、本文中に登場する難解な語句や箇所について、その意味や補足情報を本文の周辺（余白や行間など）に手書きで書き加えたものを指します。現代の「用語集」とは異なり、本文と一体化した注釈や解説の性質が強いです。
