1. 別の会社に支配されている会社。子会社。

ある会社が他の会社の発行済み株式の過半数を所有するなどして、その経営方針を決定する権限を持っている場合に、支配されている側の会社を指します。企業グループの一部である場合によく使われます。

Our company recently acquired a new subsidiary in Japan. (当社は最近、日本に新しい子会社を買収しました。)
