1. 誇り高く、自信を持って、または勇敢に振る舞う。

物理的に背を高くするというよりは、精神的に強く、困難や批判、逆境に直面しても、臆することなく自信を持ち、自分の信念や原則を守り、堂々と振る舞う様子を表します。誠実さや勇気を示す際にも使われます。
