1. 回路内の電流を分流させたり、測定のために電圧降下を生じさせたりするために、回路に並列に接続される抵抗器。

シャント抵抗器は、主に電流を別の経路に迂回させたり、高電流の測定を行うために、回路に並列に接続して使用される特殊な抵抗器です。これによって抵抗器の両端に生じる電圧降下を測定し、オームの法則に基づいて電流値を算出することができます。
