1. 何かを再度述べたり、言葉を変えて述べたりする。

一度述べたことや考えを、より分かりやすく、あるいは強調するために、言葉を変えて改めて言う様子を表します。

Could you please restate the question? (質問をもう一度言い直していただけますか？)

• Could you please: 丁寧な依頼を表します。「～していただけますか」という意味です。
• restate: 「改めて述べる」「言い直す」という意味です。
• the question: 「その質問」を指します。

The company had to restate its earnings for the past three years. (その会社は過去3年間の収益を修正して改めて発表しなければならなかった。)
