1. 全く別の話や状況

以前に話していたことや予想していたこととは全く異なる、あるいは予想外の展開や結果になった状況を示す際に使われます。ある事柄が、以前の文脈とは全く別の性質を持っていることを強調します。

I thought it would be an easy task, but once I started, it was a different story. (簡単な仕事だと思っていたけれど、始めてみたら全く別の話だった。)
