1. 確率論や統計学における、左右対称の釣鐘状の曲線を持つ連続確率分布の一種。正規分布とも呼ばれる。

ガウス分布、または正規分布は、自然界の多くの現象や測定誤差などが従うとされる、非常に重要な確率分布です。平均値を中心として左右対称に広がり、データの多くが平均値の近くに集中し、平均値から離れるほど出現頻度が減少するという特徴を持ちます。その形状から「ベルカーブ（釣鐘曲線）」とも呼ばれます。
