1. 名前が思い出せない物事や人を指すときに使う表現。あれ、それ、ほら、というニュアンスで使われる。

特定の物や人の名前がすぐに思い出せないとき、またはあえて名前を言わずに指し示すときに使う、便利な代わりの表現です。口語的で、話し言葉でよく使われます。

Can you pass me the, uh, what-do-you-call-it, the remote? (あれ、リモコン取ってくれる？)

• Can you pass me the,: 「私に～を渡してくれますか」という依頼。
