1. 旧石器時代などに使われた、柄のない石製の斧。片手で持てるサイズの多機能な石器。

手斧（ハンドアックス）は、主に旧石器時代に人類が用いた、柄のついていない石製の斧を指します。片手で扱える大きさで、物を切る、削る、掘る、叩くなど、多様な用途に利用されました。
