「今」という特定の時点における状況や状態がそうではない、ということを示す表現です。単独で使われることは稀で、通常は文の一部として用いられ、対比を示す際などによく使われます。

The rain has stopped now, not like earlier. (今は雨が止んだ、さっきとは違う。)

• The rain has stopped now,: 雨は今は止みました、

2. 今はもう〜ではないこと

過去のある時点ではそうだったが、現在の時点ではもうそうではない、という変化した状況を示す際に用いられます。

The problem is now not as big as it used to be. (その問題は、今はもう以前ほど大きくない。)
